Zebra Cat

Aaahhh!! I saw a Zebra cat today. It looked pretty much exactly like the cat I’ve drawn here (well, except that it looked real). I was out running along a rather foresty path near my house. It’s always a little dream-like out there what with the gray drippy weather and the tall pines and scraggly blackberry bushes all covered in moss. Suddenly this zebra cat hopped out a few yards in front of me. It looked at me slightly frantic and wild-eyed for a brief moment before dashing off into the blackberry bushes to my right. I saw a few last glimpses as he bounded through the bushes up the hillside and then he was gone . . .

Anyway, I’m wondering if anyone can enlighten me concerning this breed of cat, or if I’ve discovered a new species (which will then be named after me – Nancicus zebricus perhaps), or if I was simply hallucinating what with the mist and all.

Thank you for your input.

Oh for the love, your posts are entertaining but I must go get Jasmine and I am only down to your Israel roommates...you do indeed write much..the notes were great, the "you in a skirt" looked like Ma Kettle and the spider made me have a little cry about sweetest Goldie trying her might...the Pig Pen story of Pen Pen was great..oh you are just too perfect..I shall never sit and write...I don't allow myself luxuries or so it seems to sit and write for fun...why oh why can't I relax..I won't even read a book until bedtime..it seems so wasteful...what is wrong with me...I too discourage crafts and all other messes in general and in general think I was/is a very bad Mom :(

oh for the love, is what i'll respond to you, kit (ha! i will call you that in this blogosphere). If you think that not being able to relax and write something funny down because you are trying to research companionship dog training to go to in California with your autistic sun is being a bad mom then i want to be one.

by the way, i don't know anything about a zebra cat but once Kelly saw a cat in the gutter when we were walking home from school and she thought it was a rat and i don't know why she got so defensive that we didn't think it was a cat, but the defensiveness lives on to this day. just wait and see if she doesn't respond to this post.

While I am certain that is a very accurate drawing of what the cat looked like, I have never come across one. If I did I'm sure I would be frightened by it, cats quite frankly give me the eebie geebies!

I would have loved to see it. There are some strange things out there, just go see Horton Hears a Who and you will have a whole new species of things to name.

Nachito, I love that you are running so much. My goal is to be skinny like you Perla and Meg

Ah yes . . . . He's been on "Cat's Most Wanted". A formerly incarcerated cat who sprung the joint . . . . . And what was his crime you ask? Cat napping? No. Bathing in public? Should have been . . . . Impersonating the ever famous "Scardy Cat" in the most inappropriate places (the litter box, ewwww - you know what they do when they get scared) - still no. Alas, he was that cat that got your tongue! Now aren't you glad you didn't approach him - or else, he may have taken yours too! Little thieving varmint . . . and I bet he was so quick to jump because he had gotten into the cat nip. Don't ever trust a cat in stripes Nanc - turn and run the other way!!!

Okay - couldn't find a zebra cat . . . but I did find one that was a cross between and Aardvark and an anorexic opossum. Here . . . http://www.cfa.org/breeds/slideshow/slides/Cornish-Rex.html

I don't know if you can click on it or if you'll have to copy and paste.

Melissa, if you get cat heebie geebies, you should look at the one Marzee put a link to here.

SPeaking of Marzee, that's a whole lot of super cool cat lingo you know. I am going to start just giving you single words and then saying, "GO!" and you have to run with it and give me all the references you can until time is up. There might be a real game like that. It sounds cool. If so I want you on my team.

Tash, thanks for the compliment. I actually only get out like twice a week. Bummer.

Lastly, I appreciate your research Marz, Megan said she looked up zebra cat and found something called that, but I, like you, found no such creature.

This drawing had me dying of laughter. I definitely think you should get to name this freak breed of cat whatever you feel like and I think it is quite worthy of the name you came up with. I can't even tell you how scared I would have been to see a zebra cat and I believe I may have seen his picture at the post office on the F.B.I.'s most wanted list. Your sketch is accurate.

Well, it seems to be generally agreed that whatever this cat was, it was BAD.

On another note, Mike just told me he couldn't comment on this post because it would be like aknowledging that I'd seen BigFoot. Smart alec. I did see this creepy cat! I must make it my mission to find it again.

Can I say that I am truly jealous that Pine trees and even moss grow where you are! I want to do a house swap with you and you can see what it is like to run around where all you see are 6 foot tall block walls. It is so sad. Liz

Haha, I laughed out loud that we could house swap so I could see what it was like to run around with nothing but 6 foot tall block walls. So sorry. If it makes you feel any better, my actual neighborhood is new and doesn't have a single tree in sight!
