A Few Last Words

It’s not like I’m dying. I’m moving. Still, there is so much to say and just not enough time or energy to record it all, so here are a few last words from me – the Washington me – that are really not important at all, but are less to think about with my present flimsy brain.

Oh wait, how could I say this isn’t important? Hello, they are important (and don’t you girls let anyone tell you otherwise). Here are many of the friends I served in YW’s with (yah, a bunch of us are pregnant in this pic). We went to Applebee’s last night. (Jennifer, sorry you were taking the photo and not in it). I love how close you get to people when you serve with them. Thanks for planning it Alexa! (Marzee!! Where oh where were you!!??).

Now, on to the actual move. The very most painful thing about this move for Mike has been what I have done in packing so many of these boxes. If you can’t tell what unpardonable sin I have committed I won’t tell you, but it is pretty funny to see Mike looking at them, shaking his head and saying, “Fragile. This side up.” And then shaking his head some more.

Speaking of Mike. We were talking about tonight and I mentioned going to get my mom from the airport. He then said, “OK, and I’ll just be here getting things all cleaned up.” Then we both looked at each other and laughed and laughed like he had said the funniest thing a person could say. That Mike. He’s the worst. If nothing else, for making me like him so much in all of his . . . worstness. (What!! Spell check doesn’t recognize that word? Impossible.)

And, look what Goldie made! This is still totally related to my “moving” talk because my kids are awful and terrible lately because I give them so little attention as I am ever so busy cleaning and packing. But, isn’t it cute that Goldie went off all by her lonesome (even as she grumbled to Daisy, “I don’t like crafts” – because Daisy adores them and Goldie doesn’t like to let Daisy think she agrees with her too much on any given topic) and made this bird? It even has a beak and “two toes” for crying out loud!

Lastly, Goldie adores puzzles. We have like a million. They take up loads of space and the boxes always manage to get all broken so pieces fall out. So, look what I up and did as I packed. Ahhh, so much more room in the puzzle box. I had no idea how innovative and clever I could be. Really, I will probably be picked up by some show on how to organize your home now. I’m sure people have been miserable for years – unsure of how to better save space with all of their puzzles.

Alright, you will not hear from WA Nancy again. Next time you hear from me I will be a new different Nancy. I wonder if it will be a better or worse me. Oh how exciting for us all to wait and see. . . .

Oh it is so sad to leave a place you love but it won't last long when you get going and find that there is so much more to love in your new place (read here: Perla). And, I hesitate to tell you this because it might make you more sad than you already are but my pride gets the better of me and I must tell you that I have been cutting the picture tops off the puzzle boxes for YEARS and storing them with their pieces in big ol' ziplocs with in a nice little puzzle bin. But if you want to think you are genious go ahead, as long as everyone else knows it was me that thought of it. I am just rubbing off on you. But oh I wish I would rub off on you enough to not put your stuff in the boxes upside down or clothes in a coveted computer box - those should house the computer dear. I should mention now that it is good though that you don't have medical supply boxes because when we moved everyone thought we had bladder problems because all our boxes were for adult diapers. Yeah, nothing says welcome to the neighborhood more neighbors gossiping about your lack of "control". Happy moving.

happy move ... i hope it is a good one, and i know it's hard! :) but i think everything we do makes us stronger and better, so this "new" nancy will be the toughest one yet. :)

be safe ... :)

Shan -- you wish I was driving a moving truck with all of my kids in it -- not that I couldn't, but it is an ABF truck. THey drop it off at your house, you fill it and then they drive it to your destination . . . which will be a huge storage unit where I hope all your husbands will help poor pregnant me unload it (as Mike will still be finishing work up here).

Tia -- Dang. I was only just starting to feel special. I am going to go throw all the puzzles away in tears now.

Jame -- Thanks!

I feel so cool, I made it on your blog! I'm glad we could all get together for one last goodbye, and I thought you would be in moving/packing attire, but I should have known, you always look so darn cute! Just wanted to make sure you know that we are really going to miss the WA Nancy, but we are looking forward to hearing from the UT Nancy! Ridgefield will not be the same without you guys! Tell Mike to call us if he needs a place to stay or for whatever reasons... we would love to help!

Nanc- I'm SOOOOO SO sorry I wasn't there!!! I wanted so badly to go - and checked my email earlier in the day - and figured that it was getting so late that surely - you all would do it the following day. Still, I had intended to check email again - and then got caught up with craziness - and I'm so sorry. I was so bummed the next morning when I checked my email I realized I missed out. Oh Nancy - I really wanted to see you before you left. I'll email you more later this afternoon. I love you - truly I do - and miss you already!!

Nancy, I know moving is so hard! We move on an average of every 2 and half years. It is always hard to leave and hard to adjust to a new place. I'm sorry about that.

There are the good parts too. I know you know them, since this isn't your first move.

I'll pray for you to get enough sleep to feel like you have some control. (Heaven knows you need a little of that when your world is packed up in boxes.)

Oh, it is so fun to hear from you again on my blog. I figured you were checking in among all your moving and unpacking and such but I did have to run right over to your very much deserted blog and say how much I miss you and hope that things are going well and that you have a home with nice big closets and the unpacking is going well with not too much broken stuff found in the boxes that were not made for the things that you packed in. Yeah, I've been a little worried about that. Anyway, shoot me an email sometime if you have a minute and update me on where in the world is Nancy....and please tell Perla that she has not moved so deserting her blog at the very same time as you is unacceptable and a mean thing to do to her blogger friends.

Go sleep dear one.
