Awful News

Sometimes it isn't the big stuff so much as the little stuff that is world shattering. The other day I read a post about the most wonderful time of the year -- the time when this post-er's Girl Scout Cookies had arrived. Upon reading this I realized that her joy was pure devastation to me. What it meant for me was that Girl Scout season had come and gone with nary a glimpse of those beloved little cookie sellers at my door. I tried to buy some Keebler Grasshopper cookies to soften the blow of no Thin Mints today, but it didn't quite work because thin mints have that extra taste of "Spring tradition" and "not always available" about them. I'm just certain you are all munching away on Do-si-dos as you read this -- clutching them a little more tightly as you realize that not everyone can be so lucky.

oh i'm so sorry they didn't find you! i (sorry to say) had my share of boxes but i was wishing i'd gotten more and frozen them until after this baby arrived. :) (sweets and i aren't going so well together as of late but i'm sure it will be better when bambino comes, hence the need to freeze and indulge later. no such luck.)

I was telling Jocelyn on her post that she wrote about girl scout cookies, that I found a site where this lady makes her own version of girl scout cookies. I made some samoa bars for a RS thing last month and they were pretty tasty, but quite a bit of work. Anyhow if you're interested, the site is:

I just picked my up from my brother's neighbor tonight! Thin Mints and Samoas. Yum! They're going to start selling them at the outside of stores soon and then disappear until next year. :-(

Oh you silly goose - email me your address already becaue my neighbor (the one that brought me all that bread that I am STILL eating away at) is the coordinator for her daugher's troop and I am more than sure that I can get you some of whatever kind you want. I'm sure of it. I think.

Don't they stand outside the grocery stores and sell them there? They do here - most Saturdays in March. Again, I"m sure I can get you some.

yes, i think you may still have the chance to eat those thin mints and i might have the chance to gain 10 pounds in one swell swoop of downing a box of samoas.

Well, let's just wait and see. I feel some small ray of hope now. I will be checking out the outside of Wal-Mart daily . . . but if nothing happens with in a week or so, well then, tia, you and I will have to have a little talk.

Easy thin mintz recipe:

1 package Ritz reg round crackers
1/2 c dark or semisweet chocolate
1/2 c milk chocolate
1-2 tsp peppermint extract

Melt chocolates using microwave, stirring to mix together and then stir in peppermint extract. Dip crackers in one by one and place on wax paper to cool.

You're done.
