Summer's Last (and nearly forgotten) Bear Lake Trip

Apparently, we took a short trip to Bear Lake at the tail end of summer.

I say "apparently" because I'd wholly forgotten about this trip until yesterday (when I chanced upon these very beachy scenes while organizing photos).

After looking at the pictures in confusion for a moment, I slowly began to remember August ending, school back in session, and me suddenly feeling a great desire for a little last summer cabining.

And so, on a whim, we'd left Friday after school--intending just to stay for one night. In the end we stayed into Sunday (though that meant wearing non-church attire to the visitors' ward on Sunday), and I don't recall much more about the trip except the following details:

  • For some reason Daisy drove a car with most of the kids and got there long enough before us that she'd not only made dinner but taken them to see the fish at the marina before we even managed to arrive. (Were we feeding animals? Getting groceries? Probably something like that. All I know is that Daisy will be the best little mother some day!)
  • Mike had to get up before the sun to drive back to Logan on Saturday because he was in charge of building clean-up for the month. (He came back after.)
  • I slept in very late.
  • Daisy and Hans made some cool little fairy-house style sandcastles.

Oh, and now I remember that there appeared to be some sort of sailboaters' gathering afoot. (There were always sailboats on the lake when I was little. We'd use my grandma's old binoculars--which we have at our cabin now--to watch them. But there are rarely sailboats on the lake these days, and it was fun seeing them again.)
