Big Kids Home

Although it's a bit of a sad thing to have kids grow up and leave home, ... having those same kids that grew up and left home come back home is pure delight. Everyone is just so happy when the "big kids" come home for weekends and holidays. And I am perhaps the happiest of all--what with them making dinners, and entertaining their siblings, and pumping up bike tires, and taking down Christmas, and being generally helpful and fun and funny. What a lovely stage to have my older kids in!

This trip, among many many other things, had Daisy taking the little kids to choose a square of fabric and then letting them each do a small sewing project under her supervision, and baking cookies and rolls with little helpers, and reading The Hobbit to a younger sibling who was scared and couldn't fall asleep at night. And, also among many many other things, had Abe taking boys to feed the geese, and cleaning out the van for me, and vacuuming under all my couch cushions. (And I'm sorry that my camera thought to come out during baking and sewing, but not so much during Abe's cleaning and helping, but here are a few pictures of said events below.)
