There Once was a Girl . . .

There once was a girl
Who had a little curl
Right in the middle of her forehead
And when she was good
She was very very good
But when she was bad
She was horrid

This is the story of every minute of my little Penny's life lately. She is at one moment the most fun, enjoyable, delightful person one could imagine existing on this earth; and, at the next moment, a sobbing, yelling, ball of complete and unreasoning insanity.

She was horribly sick for nearly all of last week and when she came out of it . . . she brought with her a whole lot of . . . anger? Spice? Mean? I hope it is just that she is not feeling quite back to full wellness and can't quite cope with her tiny world of sippy cups and swings and books.

Luckily, even a few seconds of her happy self erases the memory of each prior tantrum from my mind. This clip is literally only about ten seconds long, but I love how she says "Pablo" (as in Pablo from Backyardigans -- the coolest kids' cartoon ever). She has Pablo and Uniqua situated in little toys "swimming." I also love that smile that she flashes me periodically through out the day.

P.S. Maybe that is still unpainted spackle on my walls, even though we've lived here for seven plus months, and maybe it isn't. Leave me alone.

My grandma used to say that little poem to us when we were little. I found it in a book a few years back and oh, how my world seemed right! I think it was pretty fitting to me as a child and sadly still, as an adult.

I do not miss Backyardigans now that ERin doesn't watch it anymore, but I must say, when she did, I really loved Uniqua. She was very ... unique.

Hmmm... I hope this is not a sign of how she will be in her teenage years, because if it is you should be very very scared, very scared indeed.

Oh maybe she is an Allie in the making, such wonderful highs, and such scary, scary lows/angers. But the cutest pictures ever. I especially loved the sleeping girl.

It must be a two-year-old thing. Jonah is the same. But they are so entertaining most of the time.

Why are we girls so emotional? My daughter ,6yrs, goes thru such highs and lows and I often wonder if and how it might change....though at two I think it is safe to say it is just part of the age....she is a cutie Nancy.
