Decorating the Tree and Christmas Eve

Making the most of decorating our little tree. (It will be fun to do huge trees again some years once we build the house, but this is a pleasant, little, uncomplicated size to decorate!)

And Christmas Eve. Pizza, sibling gifts, and a candle-lit Nativity and, after the little kids were in bed, we watched Miracle on 34th Street with the older half. (Also, Daisy made gingerbread cookies. After frosting them with good frosting, we let the kids decorate with little gel tubes of frosting and sprinkles. I underestimated just how much a child could decorate a cookie ... !)

A wise-man bringing gold. (Abe gave Daisy this lovely two-piece set of "gold" silverware to take back to college.
Penny was the narrator and oversaw everyone's lines.
Hansie making a quick wise-man crown.
A fallen angel?
A wise-man tuning his mandolin.

I love Daisy's white dress so much!! She does look angelic. It is a great regret for me that we didn't start doing a Christmas Eve nativity early enough, or didn't do it well enough or something, that my kids would see it as "tradition" and agree to it. We did a few times but it somehow didn't catch on. But I LOVE a Christmas Eve nativity. It feels so right!
