These pictures probably all look quite familiar ... an evening at the farm, a weekend at Bear Lake. But they never get old! And, in this batch, there are some new photos even! A place Mike discovered called "The Hobbit Caves". It's a pity we didn't know about them growing up. Not that they were any big thing, mind you; just a few small, den-sized cutouts in a jutting mass of rock; but, my mom read us The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings all our growing up years, and, of course, we went to Bear Lake all our growing up years as well, so it seems a shame we never knew about the existence of these small holes on the way through Logan canyon. (Unfortunately we didn't discover the helpful plank bridge by a small waterfall until after we'd made our way across the river.)
Anyway.
The Farm (I handed Goldie the camera for awhile, so we can thank her for me appearing in some pictures, and especially for the cool shot she captured of me trying to get a cattail for Starling. Also, if you look closely at the picture of Anders on the dock, you'll see the frog he was releasing leaping happily to safety in the pond):
Labor Day at Bear Lake:
(Goldie was at the cabin with us ... and I should have liked to include her in these photos of my older daughters, but she was not on board with being photographed.)
I think it's funny how Daisy and I seem to have the same laugh and then the same hand thing going on in the following two photos.
The Hobbit Caves:
The End.

Oh! Those do look like fun hobbit caves! I love places like that. And Bear Lake has now become beloved to me through mostly…your pictures! :) I love the ones of you and Mike and you laughing with your girls. Those twin gestures with Daisy are uncanny! But the farm pictures are my favorite. That leaping frog is so cute!! I love his bendy little legs! He looks just as a frog SHOULD look! (I think I have told you that I have a mild obsession with frogs. I don't know why. Catching one is my fondest dream. How DO you manage it?? They always hop away too fast when we try.)
That shot of you and Starling and the cattail is dreamy, too! Good job Goldie. At least she is doing SOMETHING worthwhile with that camera if she won't allow her darling self to be photographed.😡Cattail…blossoms? fwuffs?…really are so magical in the sunlight.
I loved all of the pictures!! I have never heard of the hobbit caves. How far up the canyon are they? I loved the comments by your friend, Marilyn (above). She pointed out some of the things I also loved. There are some good candidates for calendar pictures here., Please choose some.

What great photos! I love all these candid moments you get--with expressions joyous and sad. That frog is perfectly posed in midair! And I love the unicorn swimsuit and Mom and Dad poses on the beach and the cinderblocks being used to stage arrivals and departures of toys. Why do you have to leave us, summer?
