Look at this little human! Oh goodness. She brings me so much joy. (Even if she does often scream, "No! Don't like it!" to almost anything anyone does or says anywhere near her. And even if she does often start to cry about something and then began to cry harder because she's so upset that there are tears on her face [and if you don't wipe them away FAST, she will enter a cycle of no return]. And even if she still won't allow me to put anything in her hair ever.)
We spent Memorial Day up at Bear Lake. It was pretty chilly, but still happy to be at the cabin. (Especially since some ground squirrels now have a hole in our driveway and occasionally could be seen standing above it having little squirrel meetings.) Also, just since our Easter visit, an entire real live grocery store has been built up there. In theory I didn't like it at all. A great big store replacing the little general store? But in practice it was quite nice. Mike even ran down there Saturday night and picked up a roast and potatoes, etc. so we could have a true Sunday dinner the next day. Devin and Melissa (who are excitedly expecting their first baby) even came up for a night. They entertained the kids tirelessly and treated everyone to shakes. (And everyone ain't nothin' in our family!)
We are already two full weeks into our summer around here. It's strange what a totally different schedule we run on through the summer time. Everything about it feels so distinctly separate from the school year! (Not the least of which is the fact that there is almost always a watermelon in our kitchen. Either cut or waiting to be. It's funny that it isn't only our routine that is wildly different, but even the things we eat!)
Anyway, to end, a few pictures from the beginning of summer around here:

Apparently it takes 11 days of June before we can post about summer . . . because we've been enjoying it!
Bear lake is really the most magical place to spend summer time. How lucky we are! I love the crying about tears on the face! Hilarious!
Oh, baby Starling is getting so big. She is practically a lady now! She looks like you as a baby, I think, not that I'm any expert on the subject.
Way to go bankrupting poor Devin and Melissa before they've even had time to establish their baby's college fund. Hope it was worth it for those shakes from Zipz! :)
Well I’m no expert either. But! My sister Amy, who was a teenager when I was a baby, said the same thing the other day — that she reminds her of baby me. And that’s a fun thought!
